LSNORR functions through its administrative body, the Board of Directors.  The Board is composed of the elected and appointed officers and committee chairmen.

 Publications

 LSNORR publishes a monthly newsletter which is sent to all members as a benefit of membership.  This publication reports on activities on the local, state and international level.  LSNORR publishes annually a Court Directory which includes federal, state and local courts.  The cost is $4 for members and $5 for non-members.

Career Legal Secretary Course

 LSNORR offers two Career Legal Secretary courses in the spring and fall of the year. For more information, please e-mail Trisha Crombie at crombiet@phelps.com

 Delgado Certificate Program

 Delgado Community College offers a certificate program in Legal Secretary Studies.  Delgado and LSNORR developed this program which offers courses in all the skills necessary to function as a legal secretary.  For more information on prerequisites and application, please e-mail Professor Terri Gonzales-Kreisman at tgonza@dcc.edu.

 Scholarship

LSNORR awards a scholarship in December of each year to a candidate based on scholastic achievement, leadership ability and financial need.  Particular emphasis will be placed on pursuing a career or furthering one’s career in the legal field.  For more information and a copy of the scholarship rules and regulations, please e-mail Judy Heinrich at jmh@mbfirm.com.

 

Civic

 Each year LSNORR participates in the Second Harvest Food Bank by donating non-perishable items we collect at our October meeting.  Also, each LSNORR presents either a monetary donation or equipment to a charitable organization from funds we collect at our monthly meetings.

 

Affiliate Member of Louisiana Legal Secretaries, Inc.

LSNORR is an Affiliate member of Louisiana Legal Secretaries, Inc. which was incorporated in 1996.  Membership is available to those persons primarily interested in the field of law.  Affiliate members are any local legal organization.  Louisiana Legal Secretaries, Inc. meetings are held in February or March and the annual meeting is held in late October or November.  Louisiana Legal Secretaries, Inc. offers a certification program to become a Louisiana Certified Legal Secretary.
